Most versatile purchase of 2012: The Sheer Maxi Skirt

I know I'm a little late on the "best of 2012" bit, but I've been extremely busy in the first two weeks of this new year! With that being said, I give you the most versatile purchase I made in 2012. It's funny, cause I buy certain things telling myself, "oh, I'll probably never wear this, but it's cute so I'll get it anyway." It's those types of purchases that I end up wearing constantly. This sheer maxi skirt from H&M has been my saving grace for last year and I couldn't be happier with my choice in spontaneity. I've literally worn it every which pay possible and I truly believe there is still an endless amount of stylish possibilities. Below are just a few examples of how I've worn the skirt in different types of weather and situations.

In the most casual of times, I paired my maxi with simple wedge sneakers and a denim jacket. My favorite top to wear tucked in, is a vintage baseball-style T-shirt that I repeatedly steal from my boyfriends closet. When the weather is chilly I pair it with a simple pair of leggings (or fancy ones, depending on the mood!). When I'm feeling jazzy but still casual, I pair it with a simple striped tee and colored cropped cardigan. The cardi I wear is more of a mustard color, but you get the point. I set it off with a chunky gold necklace and some faux suede ankle booties. Again, leggings optional!

Once upon a time, the weather was warm. In that case, I ditched the leggings and let my bare legs feel the breeze through sheer end of the skirt. Worn with bold sandals and a tied-up chambray shirt was always the most comfortable look. A bright pink lip and minimal make-up was all I needed to start the day. Besides, who wants to wear a face full of cosmetics in 90 degree weather?

On dressier occasions a cropped turtleneck always did the job (sleeves or not!). I have these gorgeous pair of Seychelles sandals in a turquoise shade, but these blush heels are so dreamy that I had to use them. A stylish pair of edgy earrings like the ones above are so necessary (BTW, They're silver and leather. Yes.). Topped off with a coordinating clutch and a my signature messy bun and my life is complete. I can't wait for another year of sheer maxi-ing. Maybe this year I'll try it in a color! Any suggestions?!
